Two staff members from the University of Zakho, Dr. Kanaan R Ahmed and Ms. Sameera Sh. Mohammed Ameen from the Chemistry Department, successfully participated in a four-day Chemical Security Risk Assessment Training held in Amman, Jordan.
The programme was organized by the U.S. Department of State – Chemical Security Program (CSP) in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories (USA), with the participation of Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, Supervisor of the Executive Directorate of Supervision and Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – KRG.
The training provided essential knowledge and practical tools to strengthen chemical safety and security across academic institutions. Participants were introduced to hands-on approaches for evaluating chemical risks, improving secure storage practices, and enhancing institutional preparedness against potential chemical threats.
The University of Zakho recognizes the importance of such professional development opportunities and appreciates the active involvement of its staff. The skills and insights gained from this training will contribute to advancing safe chemical practices within the Chemistry Department and across the university.
